distcache release: 1.4.5
------------------------

We are pleased to announce the release of version 1.4.5 of the distcache
package. For more information on what distcache is and how to use it, please
see the README as it provides a good introduction and a guide to the other
documents in this package.

This is the first maintenance release of distcache from the 1.4 stable branch.
Most noteworth in this release is the fix of a serious bug in the dc_client
proxy utility that could result in loss of cache operations and blocked
applications. All users should strongly consider upgrading.

This branch is currently considered of "beta" quality, though is now in
maintenance mode and will replace the older 0.4 branch as the "stable" series
in the near term.
